Set in a secluded 7-acre property, 15 minutes from historic downtown Savannah, Front Porch is a residential level of care with lengths of stay spanning 30, 60, and 90 days. We pride ourselves on being a small and gender-specific program serving adult men (18 and older). Men face their own unique challenges and require treatment designed to address those issues.
What is trauma:
"Trauma comes from a Greek word for 'wound'. Trauma is a constriction, it's a narrowing, it's a diminishment of your emotional functioning, your psychological functioning. Trauma is not what happened to you; trauma is what happens inside you as a result of what happened to you. Trauma is the wound that results from what happened to you. That's good news because if trauma is a wound, it can be healed at any time. We can be made whole again in the healing process."

At Front Porch we understand the process of healing from those wounds. We see addiction as a solution once used to mitigate the pain of our trauma, one that no longer serves to bring us the lives we really want to live. What started off as adaptive strategies for survival in a harsh and painful environment becomes, for some of us, maladaptive and addictive, reducing our ability to connect with others and self meaningfully and live with purpose.
Our goal is to guide you in setting your own system of values and help you to develop functional and effective adaptive strategies to build the life you want free from addictive behaviors.
